“…breathtaking combination of art, play and technical wizardry.” – Bryan Bishop, The Verge

particle-01HEART CORPS: Riders of the Storyboard, was officially selected to be part of Sundance 2017 New Frontier. It is a new theatrical experience within which a projection mapped sculpture  comes to life and adventures around walls, stuck in a living graphic novel. The story explores the relationship between characters that exist within different dimensions, in an immersive, walk-through experience, set in an abandoned, multi-roomed artists studio.

Particle, the hero, is a 2D lightpuppet. He has been selected to enlist in the prestigious Heartcorps Airforce. Particle knows nothing of the 3D world, which he cannot even see, and yet he is the only hope to prevent utter obliteration.

DON CHIPOTLE

by Juan Francisco Villa

August 25 – September 27, 2015 | DCASE Storefront Theater (66 E. Randolph St., Chicago)

don chipotle sketch-01DON CHIPOTLE is a theatrical experience inspired by both the classic story of DON QUIXOTE and playwright Juan Francisco Villa’s experience growing up in the violent Latino neighborhood of the Lower East Side in New York City. Two young boys, Celestino and Octavio, journey across New York City on an epic adventure encountering dangerous villains, strange creatures and memorable characters. Celestino, as his alter ego Don Chipotle, creates an imaginary world as a means to escape the harsh reality of his violent upbringing. Villa’s vision is to make this story magical and theatrical, using towering puppets to reflect on a lost time, just as the two boys are losing their childhood.

LA RUTA

by Isaac Gomez

la ruta-01In Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, Brenda wants nothing more than to work in the factories, but when Brenda goes missing, it’s up to their mother to find her. With thousands of women disappearing, there are few places to turn and even fewer people to trust. Pulled from real testimonies, LA RUTA is an ethnographic play with music investigating the mass murder of women in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.

LA RUTA is the recipient of the Austin Critics Table David Mark Cohen New Play Award for 2013. It received development workshops at Oregon Shakespeare Festival in 2015, and received a reading as part of the Goodman Theatre’s Latino Festival in 2016.
